Internship

The Intern will assist in the administration of the three shows in Shakespeare by the Sea's 12th season as well as the production process of a show at Little Fish Theatre.

Duties & Activities:
The position will provide hands on experience in producing theatre. The Intern will assist in the administration of the three productions in Shakespeare by the Sea’s 13th touring Festival as well as the pre-production process of mounting a ticketed show at our 65 seat Equity Waiver theatre, Little Fish Theatre.  The intern will participate in general production activities for both programs as well as grass-roots marketing and fundraising activities that support these productions.

The intern will work alongside Sara Adelman, the Festival Producer (FP), and Lisa Coffi, the Producing Artistic Director (PAD) of SBTS and Little Fish Theatre. Sara Adelman will operate as the primary Mentor for the program. 

SBTS pre-production activities (early June) include assisting the PAD & FP in marketing and pre-production operations of the Festival. The intern will participate in launching our flyer distribution campaign, updating viral marketing posts, attending rehearsals, assisting in press photos, preparing venue maps for actors and crew, load-in of production equipment and fundraising merchandise at the Point Fermin Park Bandshell and will assist the producers with opening and closing special event activities.

SBTS production and tour activities (June-Aug) will include attending the productions in San Pedro and throughout LA and Orange counties, front of house activities, coordinating with nightly volunteers, flyer distribution, concession and merchandise booth set-up and operations, raffle ticket sales, pre or post show announcements, interacting with the audience, interacting with cast and stage managers and working with a full production team.

Little Fish Theatre activities (July-Aug) will include assisting in pre-production activities, assisting with front of house duties, collaborating with volunteers, distributing marketing materials and working with a production team.

Required Skills:
Meticulous attention to detail, great attitude, strong organizational and administrative skills, great phone etiquette, computer savvy, ability to work in high-pressure deadline driven situations, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work evenings as well as days, ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to follow-through, and a team player.

Computer skills (required): Word, Excel, Internet and email savvy.
