Shakespeare by the Sea Kicks off 2010 Season With Opening Night Toast
2010 Tour Reaches Largest Audiences Yet

May 21, 2010, LOS ANGELES, CA - Shakespeare by the Sea will kick off its biggest season yet with a champagne toast by the sea. Sponsors, supporters, cast and crew for both TWELFTH NIGHT and JULIUS CAESAR as well as Shakespeare and theatre enthusiasts will gather in scenic Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, California on June 12th at 7:30 PM to officially kick off Shakespeare by the Sea's 13th season - a performance of Shakespeare's timeless comedy, TWELFTH NIGHT will immediately follow the toast (TWELFTH NIGHT officially opens the Thursday before on June 10th with JULIUS CAESAR opening the following Thursday).

Shakespeare by the Sea is thrilled to announce that this year's tour has become our biggest yet. Over the past twelve years Shakespeare by the Sea has been presenting free performances of Shakespeare classics in parks throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and our audiences have been growing. This year we have extended our tour and will travel to 18 locations and present 27 admission free performances of TWELFTH NIGHT and JULIUS CAESAR (in addition to the 14 performances we have scheduled at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro) - an increase of three locations and eight performances over the 2009 tour. The tour includes a special military performance at Fort MacAurthur Air Force Base in San Pedro on July 8th as well as a special performance at the Long Beach Museum of Art on August 6th. We are delighted to be touring to locations both old and new and are thankful to our sponsors, host cities and especially our audiences for making this summer festival possible.

Locations for this year's tour for TWELFTH NIGHT and JULIUS CAESAR include Beverly Hills (Roxbury Park), Carson (Anderson Park), Glendale (Brand Park & Glenoaks Park), Hermosa Beach (Valley Park), La Crescenta (Two-Strike Park), Laguna Niguel (Crown Valley Park), Lakewood (Del Valle Park), Long Beach (Long Beach Museum of Art), Manhattan Beach (Polliwog Park), Newport Beach (Bonita Canyon Sports Park), Rancho Palos Verdes (Terranea & Hesse Park), Rossmoor (Rush Park), South Pasadena (Garfield Park), Torrance (Wilson Park's Gazebo), and Whittier (Adventure Park).

Both productions will play in repertory at Point Fermin Park through July 3rd then tour LA and Orange Counties through August 11th. Final performances for both shows will be in Point Fermin with JULIUS CAESAR closing Friday, August 13th and TWELFTH NIGHT closing Saturday August 14th.
